Cybersecurity specialist
CareerSpot®About the job
The advanced radar and combat management systems developed at Thales are becoming increasingly intelligent and complex. They consist largely of hardware and software components that communicate with each other. The cybersecurity specialist plays a crucial role in minimizing the security risks of our products by d-noneing "security by design" principles.
The application of cybersecurity in product development at Thales differs from regular "IT security." While the fundamental principles and building blocks are largely the same, there are differences. In a product development organization, cybersecurity tasks run parallel to various other engineering activities, such as analyzing customer requirements, defining system requirements and architecture, identifying and specifying hardware and software subsystems, designing infrastructure and software, integrating delivered subsystems, and performing verification at various levels. This means that, as a specialist, you are part of a large, multidisciplinary team that works together to complete the project. As a system engineer, you are familiar with the fundamental principles of system engineering as they are applied in the development of technically complex products.
During the proposal phase, you will analyze customer requirements related to cybersecurity and, through risk and feasibility assessments, define system requirements for the deliverable system. In the early development phase, you will conduct a security risk analysis, identifying the appropriate security controls that will be further developed throughout the project. You will work closely with other project members and, at times, directly with the customer.
Your knowledge and expertise in cybersecurity are well-developed through experience. Alongside other cybersecurity engineers, you stay up to date with industry developments, complement each other’s expertise, and challenge each other to maintain high standards.
